Much of my childhood was spent fearful of a neighbour’s furious German shepherd, having been chased and nipped at on several occasions. It took many years – into adulthood – of meeting dogs with names like Tigger, Milo, Ali, Klara, and Max to give me a cautious comfort in the company of a larger dog.

Eventually, it was love for a dog named Bajka that transformed me into a true dog person. Years before that, though, I’d found dogs to be a particularly rich photographic vein to tap and whenever the opportunity presented itself, it was always wise to see what canine capers I might capture.
